BOOKS

  • Read a book with a story about fabrics. See suggested reading list.
  • Read a book that explains which animals have fur used to make fabric
  • Give each student a book and ask them to find a picture of fabric

Teaching young students the basics of sewing, knitting, and/or crocheting can be the spark that leads to a lifelong love of fabrics and of making things themselves. It may be best for the teacher to review the following videos and then demonstrate the basics of one or more of these skills.
